Ukwanshin’s first Okinawan language class began this past Monday, with a great turnout of over 25 people at Norman’s house in Manoa. Â Mrs. Sasaki was also surprised at the turnout and said she was overjoyed at seeing so much interest to start. Â She also commented that her dream is to see us using the language again naturally. Â She comes to us from Naha, and has a connection to Okinawa’s royal past. Â Her grandmother was the wetnurse for the last king, Sho Tai, and she remembers talking with the royal grandchildren of the king. Â She also told of going to visit the royal residence with her grandmother. Â Â Â Â The classes are held every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month from 7-9pm. Â Please contact us for more information. Â Those of you outside O`ahu, or Hawai`i, we will soon be having live hookup either through video feed or the internet. Â Â
I’ve been looking for something like this! Are you still accepting new students? If so, please send me more info on how I can attend. (*eek!)
